Soft opening April 4th, 2020
Apr 1, 2020
Yay! After many months of construction and inspections, we get to open this Saturday! You’re invited to our socially distant celebration with toilet paper party favors!
SOFT OPEN EVENT
Saturday April 4th, 2020
Dear Diary Coffeehouse
1212 Chicon #103; Austin, TX 78702
512-220-1190 • ddatx.live/menu2
How will it work?
We’ll be open 7am – 7pm Saturday, and will running free deliveries to the East Side all day. There is no purchase minimum on deliveries; we’re just excited to do our job. If you’re outside our delivery range, that’s okay—you can still place an order for pickup online. Finally, we will have a barista stationed at the entrance of the shop to take walk-up orders.
We’re giving away a free roll of toilet paper with every transaction of $5 or more.* How will you spend your $5? Our menu has coffee, tea, beer, snacks, and grocery items like cold brew growlers and vegan honey bear syrups. You can also just buy store credit and figure it out later.
We’re excited to support other small businesses! If you miss Celeste’s Best from the pre-Corona days, we will have her full line-up Saturday: every cookie flavor, both bread flavors, peanut butter cups, and her famous carrot pumpkin cake. We’ll also have singlets and six packs from Hops & Grain, Austin East Ciders, and Rambler Sparkling Water.
What is Dear Diary Coffeehouse?
We are a coffee shop for creatives! Our vision was to create a welcoming space for artists and writers to bond over their passions. We wanted to carry some art supply retail, start up a community diary program, and have a featured artist rotation. We were also really looking forward to hosting meetups.
Also, we’re a 100% vegan establishment, we try to sell local brands as much as possible, and our packaging is eco-friendly. We try to make it easy to be good. And if you’re only good when you’re here, well that’s good enough!
We’re in the process of re-envisioning Dear Diary now that shelter-in-home policies are in place. How might we still encourage creativity and togetherness in our community? Email ideas to [email protected]
What are your store hours?
After our big event Saturday, we’ll begin regular store hours:
Thursday thru Monday
7:00am – 12:00pm
We’ll fulfill online and in-person takeout orders all morning. At noon, we’ll lock up the shop and run all the deliveries.
How are you staying safe during COVID-19?
Placing orders online, even if you’re a walk-up, is a great way to avoid touching the POS or getting too close to the barista taking orders. Allowing us to deliver to your doorstep is even better! Even so, we will have hand sanitizer for customers who pick up their orders at our store. Plus, we have plenty of disinfectant and will be using it! Even though everyone will wash their hands frequently, we’ll still have separate baristas taking orders and preparing orders. Finally, our delivery van wash thoroughly washed inside and out. We dare say we have the cleanest delivery van in all the land!
